IOD PARC is leading a consortium which delivers Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning services focused on Resilience in Nepal for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office in Nepal. Nepal is highly vulnerable to disasters and faces a range of natural hazards including earthquakes and recurrent flooding and landslides. A key priority therefore is to better understand how best to support and track the resilience of people, institutions, and services. IOD PARC’s work in Nepal, both with FCDO and other donors as well as regional and international organisations is key to our wider organisational learning regarding resilience.
IOD PARC has previously conducted work on developing dimensions of institutional resilience. The researcher will work closely alongside the mentor and IOD PARC’s Nepal and South Asia portfolio to increase the conceptual understanding of resilience of people and services (including infrastructure). The objective of the internship is to then operationalise this conceptual understanding into a suite of indicators that can be used to track how different projects contribute to resilience.
In order to achieve this objective, the researcher will need to review existing literature/frameworks around resilience and work with the IOD PARC team and wider stakeholders to understand their applicability/fit to Nepal’s context.
