SGSSS Impact Competition 2023 winner Karen Fullerton-Chalmers used the prize to create an impactful podcast mini-series.
In Behind the Research, Karen interviews four of her research participants one year after their initial interview for her thesis project, which investigates the impacts of stalking representation in film and television. Join Karen and her guests as they unveil the realities of stalking and what has changed for participants as they continue to fight against it.
Karen is a PhD student at University of the West of Scotland. In 2023, she was the joint winner of the SGSSS Impact Competition in the Achieved Impact category for her PhD work, The Impact of the Representation of Stalking within Cinematic and Televised Productions on Stalking Victims.
The SGSSS Impact Competition gives social science PhD students across Scotland a chance to reflect on how their research can make a meaningful difference. Winners in two categories, planned impact and achieved impact, each receive a £500 prize, which they can use to further their research impact.
