We are now inviting applications for Internships starting in the 2019/20 academic year
Paid opportunities are available with Audit Scotland, Healthcare Improvement Scotland, Scottish Land Commission, Skills Development Scotland, Young Foundation, Scottish Government and SGSSS.
Internships help develop transferable and generic skills, writing skills, and advancement of knowledge in diverse subject areas. They can also enhance employability, build networks, and open up different routes to employment.
Please see our current opportunities page for full details of internships available, the deadline for applications, and eligibility criteria.
Three reasons you should consider an Internship in 2019 …
- If you invest time in your application, you have a good chance of success – 78% of applicants in 2018 were offered an internship, and there are plenty of opportunities to go round
- Internship outputs can help develop impact for your research – and lead to publication and prizes!
- Doing an internship can open up new career paths and enhance employability – former SGSSS interns have secured permanent employment after their PhD
View opportunities and apply now! The deadline for most is 29 July, but please see individual projects for full details.
The internship has changed my perspective on future career plans. I now understand that there are other environments where you can utilise your research skills outside academia. I’ve really enjoyed working in government and would now definitely consider this as a good option for a future career.
